Project IMPACT

Improving Motor Performance Applying Contraint Theraphy (IMPACT)

Project IMPACT is a national stroke therapy study taking place at Colorado State University, University of South Carolina, and University of Florida. This study uses Constraint-Induced Therapy (CIT), a treatment designed to increase affected-arm use after stroke. After a stroke, a person often experiences a "learned non-use" of their stroke-affected arm and hand. The purpose of CIT is to reverse this learned non-use, to assist the person in using their stroke-affected arm more effectively. A primary goal of Project IMPACT is to identify the most effective aspects of CIT.

Project IMPACT is a national clinical trial that is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a proposed period of 5 years. We are currently in the third year of this grant.

The NeuroRehabilitation Research Laboratory at CSU is currently seeking survivors of stroke who wish to participate in Project IMPACT. If you are interested in participating in Project IMPACT or would like further details, then please click here to print out a flyer.
